Those who have engaged with NEOJIBA in Salvador, Brazil, over the years, will probably know Beth Ponte, who served as its Institutional Director during a period of rapid growth. Beth left the program to pursue an advanced degree in Europe and was subsequently honored with a German Chancellor Fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation for the year 2018-19. She has served as a Board Member at the Brazilian Association of Social Organizations of Culture (ABRAOSC) since 2013. Beth has published an article entitled “When Democracy is at Risk: Reflections upon the Role of Arts Institutions and their Leaders in Brazil and Germany,” in the Arts Management Quarterly special issue, Arts Management in Times of Crisis.
